Safety, Health & Environment Manager - Australia

The Safety, Health & Environment Manager is responsible for the completion of required activities in the Group SHEMS Plan, coordinating Safety and Health responsibilities for all Calix sites and implementation of efficient and effective safety improvement activities.

The position is based at Bacchus Marsh, VIC (hybrid working model available). 

The right person will be able to demonstrate: 

  • Tertiary qualification in Work Health Safety (minimum certificate IV);
  • Demonstrated experience in SHE and the ability to lead the function, including systems set up;
  • Industry background in petrochemicals, mineral processing or mining preferred;
  • Practical approach to problem solving;
  • Ability to adapt to the changes in processes that happen within a technology company;
  • Scientific or engineering background advantageous.

This role will be responsible for: 

  • Ensuring completion of all activities in the Group SHEMS Plan (5-year plan);
  • Managing and coordinating Safety and Health activities at for all Australian’s sites;
  • Ensuring compliance with current legislation, business requirements and keeping records up to date;
  • Assisting in the development of solutions and implementation of strategies to address identified key risk areas;
  • Assisting in development and review of the SHE management plans;
  • Ensuring Safety and Health inductions for new employees, contractors and visitors are completed at the Bacchus Marsh site and records are up to date;
  • Ensuring all incident reporting and investigation requirements are fulfilled for any incidents companywide;
  • Completing Safety and Health reporting requirements including board papers;
  • Participating in internal and external OHS audits when required;
  • Managing the safety supplies and products system;
  • Ensuring all the SDS are up to date for Calix products;
  • Rolling out Safety Management System to EU and USA;

Electrical/ control systems engineer - Australia

We are seeking applicants for an innovative and highly capable electrical/ control systems engineer to support commercial projects, as well as technology development activities, specifically the design and application of its breakthrough Direct Separation Reactor (DSR) technology to decarbonise current industry processes.

A good work-life balance will be offered, working from home, with business travel to support projects and ongoing operations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Working on large multinational research and development projects
  • Designing, engineering, construction, commissioning, and the subsequent operation of the resulting process plants.
  • Supporting the electrical and control systems design for the Calix technology, as well as the required hardware and software
  • Integration of electrical equipment and process control instrumentation, on first-of-a-kind pilot and demonstration plants

The right person will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience in industrial control and automation (PLC and SCADA) design, with a solid background with PLC equipment, control architecture and industrial implementation.
  • Experience designing hardware and software automation systems, as well as the integration of electrical equipment and process control instrumentation.
  • The ability to identify and support the implementation of improvements to existing systems, in line with technical standards, operational and safety policy and legislation.
  • Sound knowledge of the cement, lime or other industrial process and associated electrical and control systems.
  • Experience in first of a kind, or highly developmental projects requiring bespoke control systems.
  • Experience in supplier negotiations and contract management.
  • Development and maintenance of detailed budgets and schedules.

Senior Mechanical Project Engineer - Australia

Calix Limited is developing an innovative technology platform to provide industrial solutions to address global sustainability challenges, across five key focus areas including: CO2 Mitigation, Sustainable Processing, Batteries, Biotech and Water.

Reporting to the Engineering Team Manager, this role will own the execution of Mechanical engineering assignments comprising complex detail design and specification work associated in the development of Calix systems and technology. This position is a mix of both office and site-based activities at our Bacchus Marsh Plant.

This role will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking Mechanical engineering designs including the preparation of specifications, data sheets and associated calculations, in compliance with project specifications and applicable standards and regulations.
  • Undertaking review/checking of Mechanical designs and quality deliverables of others during a project as required.
  • Preparation of technical packages, scope of work documents, technical specifications, Vendor Documentation Requirement Lists (VDRL’s), for equipment or services to be provided for a project.
  • Reviewing vendor/supplier proposals and preparation of technical evaluation reports, corresponding or meeting with the respective vendors/suppliers as necessary to clarify and agree on technical issues.
  • Directing & monitoring design consultants, suppliers, subcontractors as required.
  • The checking of plans, designs and documentation of equipment and materials purchased as required to ensure, assurance of engineering quality and conformance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Undertaking site inspections, attending vendor FAT’s, participation in site construction and commissioning activities as required by the project.
  • Managing and overseeing site-based activities including pilot plant trials & servicing, plant construction and commissioning.
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders for effective delivery of engineering assignments.
  • Acting as a leader of Calix’s SHE, Sustainability and Governance culture.
  • Supporting growth of an effective safety culture.
  • Participating in, SHEQ activities including project process and design reviews, such as HAZOPs and take a lead role in managing site safety.

The right person will be able to demonstrate:

  • Mechanical Engineering (BE Mech or Mechatronic)
  • 7+ years post graduate experience in plant design and construction environment
  • Substantial experience with design management and project controls
  • Sound understanding of the documentation, quality, and fabrication processes for mineral processing equipment.
  • Substantial on-site experience particularly during construction phase
  • An understanding of technical aspects and interfaces of the multi-discipline projects (other disciplines, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance)
  • Ability to understand and comply with relevant OHS, Environmental and quality legislation and procedures
  • Understanding/knowledge of relevant Australian standards
  • An understanding of budgets, project deliverables and cost minimization
  • Experience with risk management and mitigation planning
  • Quality assurance experience
  • Computer proficiency and ability to use Autodesk Software
  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Project and project control systems for EPC projects
  • A strong team building attitude
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Public Engagement Manager - Leilac

As the leader of Leilac’s public engagement activity, this role will develop and deliver campaigns that support and build Leilac’s brand, provide education on climate change and industrial decarbonisation, and create advocacy for Leilac’s technology for sustainable industry.

Leilac’s Public Engagement Manager will work with the Digital Marketing and Communications teams, as well as external partners, to develop impactful campaigns that create public support for Leilac’s technology solutions. Campaigns will target broad brand and reputation building at a national and international level, as well as support for individual projects and their immediate local public stakeholders.

Key messages and content will be developed and delivered through Leilac’s own channels, as well in collaboration with partners and other influencers for further amplification.

Technical Writer - Leilac

An experienced professional with a strong grounding in engineering or the physical sciences, Leilac’s technical writer will lead the production of technical reports, white papers and other deliverables targeted at stakeholders in industry and government.

The ideal candidate will have experience in technical communications, with a proven ability to distil complex concepts and information into clear and compelling pieces of thought leadership.

Working within Leilac’s Corporate Affairs team, Leilac’s technical writer will collaborate with Leilac’s Technology and Engineering teams to develop strategically important content that supports business growth. The technical writer will quickly build a deep understanding of many aspects of Leilac’s technology and develop compelling communication materials.
