Heavy build-up of FOG layers in the network causing frequent fatbergs blockages ?

Significant FOG build-up in sewer pump stations requiring increased cleaning ?

Frequent need for vacuum truck cleaning leading to an increase in maintenance costs ?

WHY ARE FOGS AN ISSUE?

Higher concentration of FOG can lead to the formation of fat bergs, scamming, pump blockages, pipe restriction, pipe blockage plus the formation of odour related issues like hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S). But these issues can also end up interfering with the sewage treatment processes at wastewater treatment plants.

ACTI-Mag for FOGs

With a higher neutralising value per dry kilo when compared with caustic and lime, ACTI-Mag raises the pH of the waste stream and allows bacterial breakdown of organic matter and saponification of fats, oils and greases FOGs.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE FOGS WHEN USING ACTI-Mag

ACTI-Mag is a concentrated stabilised suspension of magnesium hydroxide, an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Mg(OH)₂.

ACTI-Mag slowly releases hydroxyl ions which breakdown low-density, large-chain fatty acids into glycerol and various types of soap, both of which are more readily digested by bacteria in wastewater.

Wastewater has large quantities of low-density, long-chain fatty acids. The carboxylate salts that are O-produced further facilitate the breakdown of other fats.
