When the chef of Apayao rice crops needed to improve plant vitality, it contacted Calix to conduct a trial of its BOOSTER-Mag technology. The successful trial demonstrated how the technology can dramatically improve the vitality and the growth of plants.

Introduction

Two large fields were prepared in an identical manner using identical hybrid rice seedlings. At leaf 5 (5 weeks after transplant), BOOSTER-Mag was first sprayed (2% v/v, 1.7 kg/ha).

Five further treatments were applied at 14 day intervals over a 10 week period.

Observations – 40 days after planting.

Generally health plants. Scattered leaf browning and no flowering.

Visibly greener leaves and visibly denser canopy. 25% taller stems (40 & 30cm approx.). No browning, no wilting – robust and healthy plants with unusually early stage flowering.

Observations – 100 days after planting.

10 % loss on drying. Dry yield of 120 cavan* /ha (6,000 kg/ha). [* 1 cavan = 50 kg]

Harvested 10 days earlier.

2% loss on drying. Dry yield of 141 cavan / ha (7,050 kg/ha) – increase of 18%.

BOOSTER-Mag is a safe, low cost, environmentally sustainable and easy-to-apply foliar spray that can improve productivity and natural resistance to pests and diseases.

BOOSTER-Mag has been manufactured using Calix’s proprietary “mineral honeycomb” magnesium oxide, a novel, nano-active material already demonstrating remarkable results in sewer and waste water, biogas, and aquaculture applications.
