Together with our partners Swinburne University of Technology, the University of Adelaide, Fortescue, Roy Hill, LIBERTY Steel Group and Grange Resources, Calix Limited was delighted to receive the Best Contribution to Industry-Research Collaboration Award at the Heavy Industry Low-carbon Transition Cooperative Research Centre (HILT CRC) 2024 Annual Conference: De-risking Decarbonisation last week.
The award recognised the success of the ZESTY pilot project, with partners in academia, iron ore mining, steelmaking and enabling technology collaborating to successfully test Australian iron ores in a hydrogen flash smelting process.
The project included over 80 pilot-scale tests using various Australian ores, detailed materials characterisation and further high-temperature experiments to develop the ZESTY process.
The results both advance decarbonisation efforts in the iron and steel industry and showcase the power of partnership in driving towards a more sustainable future.
Thank you to our collaborators and partners, including Professor Geoff Brooks, Professor M. Akbar Rhamdhani, Dr. Shabnam Sabah and PhD candidates Made Natha, Belinda Rich and Tiara Triana.
