Calix presents Industrial Decarbonisation Solutions at GASCE24
Construction progress update for lithium Mid-Stream Demonstration Project

Calix’s R&D Program Lead, Gloria Díaz, represented Calix and its subsidiary, Leilac, at the 2nd Australian Conference on Green & Sustainable Chemistry (GASCE24), held in Melbourne from 8–12 December 2024.

The conference brought together leaders from industry, academia, and government to explore innovations in green chemistry, clean energy, and sustainable manufacturing.

During the Industry Day sessions, Gloria presented on Applications of Leilac Technology for Decarbonising Lime and Cement Industries, showcasing how Calix’s core technology is addressing some of the most pressing decarbonisation challenges in heavy industry. Key highlights included:

  • The versatility of Calix’s technology platform across critical minerals, iron and steel, and other hard-to-abate sectors.
  • Leilac’s role in enabling the efficient capture of unavoidable process emissions from cement and lime production.
  • Its contribution to Direct Air Capture (DAC), through a collaboration with Heirloom that aims to leverage Calix’s electric calcination technology to capture CO₂ directly from the atmosphere.
  • Project ZETA, which aims to demonstrate the circular carbon economy by capturing CO₂ emissions and using them to produce green methanol.

Reflecting on the importance of these solutions, Gloria remarked:

“Innovative solutions like Leilac are not just reducing emissions; they are redefining what’s possible in heavy industry decarbonisation.”

GASCE24 underscored the vital role of collaboration in driving green innovation. Conferences like these provide a platform to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and accelerate the transition to a sustainable, net-zero future. Calix is proud to be at the forefront of delivering technologies that enable decarbonisation pathways for some of the world’s hardest-to-abate industries.
