In this video of the Leilac Expert Insight, Mark Sceats, Calix Chief Scientist, discusses the evolution of the Calix Technology behind Project LEILAC and the value of a collaborative approach with industry “the involvement of industry is absolutely critical” he says.
Calix’s technology is being piloted with the world’s largest cement and lime companies to mitigate their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions dramatically without significant energy or capital penalty.
Calix is a team of dedicated people developing a unique, patented technology to provide industrial solutions that address global sustainability challenges. The core technology is being used to develop more environmentally friendly solutions for food water energy and climate.
Calix develops its technology via a global network of research and development collaborations, including governments, research institutes and universities, some of world’s largest companies, and a growing customer base and distributor network for its commercialised products and processes.
The LEILAC1 Project (Low Emissions Intensity Lime And Cement, A project of the European Union Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation) aims to apply a breakthrough, low-cost technology to enable both the cement and lime industries to reduce their carbon emissions dramatically, while retaining their international competitiveness. The pilot is being hosted by HeidelbergCement at Lixhe in Belgium.
